About Us
Now in our 22nd year, we are the original
Magickal Perfumerie and specialize in hand crafted, fresh, micro-brewed
fragrances created with the magical, mystical properties of the
ingredients in mind. The meanings, properties and purposes are derived
from folklore, cultures and religions the world over and throughout
time. We also consider sense
memory when crafting our potions.
For example: Vanilla is a 'magical' aphrodisiac, and it also has sense
memory links. For many, the scent of vanilla brings to the fore
treasured
childhood memories of baking mouth-watering cookies in a warm kitchen
with
a parent or grandparent. It is also said that mother’s milk has a
somewhat
vanilla flavoring to it; so subconsciously, the smell of vanilla will
evoke
feelings of loving safety and nurturing, as well as oral fixation and
cuddling
at the breast. Wear vanilla at your cleavage area and just see the
response
you get! ;)
There are a multitude of scents that evoke feelings of one kind or
another in this manner. Ones that create an aura of power and
confidence, or of
capable competance, cool composure, warmth and friendship, slutty
sexuality
- etc. Thus we combine magical meanings that have been passed down
through
generations, with current cultural perceptions and sense memory.
In crafting a new scent, the "purpose" is always our first
consideration. Using the database that we designed for this use, we
first pull up all ingredients that possess the specific "power" we are
going for. Once we have that list, the artistry comes into it - as,
just like a baker creating a new recipe, we decide which ingredients
will compliment each other and in what measure.
We also only sell our fragrances while they are "fresh". They are
created in small batches using the finest ingredients available, and
without the
use of preservatives, silicones or fixatives of any kind. Properly
stored,
our fragrances have a typical shelf life of 5-6 years, and most are
only
available from us for 6 to 18 months.
Since we do not use stabilizers, the fragrances tend to smell slightly
different on everyone who wears them. We consider this an advantage, as
each wearer's personal body chemistry makes the scent uniquely their
own.
