Coming from the aspect of a perfumery, we had slightly different ideas about how we'd like to see pheromone delivery and application, so we've been working with two different pheromone labs and an additional cosmetic ingredient supplier to come up with this new method that we think will make pheromones easier to apply, easier to transport, and perhaps even more effective. Rather than purchasing alcohol diluted products as they are commercially available to the public, we've commissioned PURE undiluted pheromone formulas directly from the manufacturers. Instead of the customary alcohol dilution, we've decided upon a pure Cosmetic Grade Silicone called Cyclopentasiloxane (D5). This product is clear, tasteless, odorless, non-greasy and non-stinging. It is used as a base fluid in a number of personal care products including skin creams, lotions, bath oils, suntan and shaving products and make-up. It imparts a soft-silky feel to the skin, and leaves no oily residue or build-up, while being slightly thicker than alcohol and slightly thinner than oil. The reasons we've chosen this base: 1) Many phero users have stated that they would prefer an oil base for their pheros rather than an alcohol base, because alcohol based products seem to evaporate quicker, while oil based products seem to cling to the skin for a longer period of time. The problem with a strictly oil based method is that the pheromones require a level of volatility for proper dispursion. Cyclopentasiloxane is the perfect compromise, as it contains the required volatility for dispursion, while in a thicker, silky base. 2) We've noticed that many of the commercially available products leak. The viscosity of this base is such that you should be able to carry this around with you in your purse or pocket without experiencing any bottle leakage. 3) Alcohol based products have a low 'flashpoint' which makes them unsuitable for air transport. Cyclopentasiloxane has a much higher flashpoint and may be legally sent through the mail or taken on airplanes when you travel. 4) Cyclopentasiloxane also has other advantages. It dries quickly but is molecularly too large to be absorbed into the cells of your skin. In this, it has the advantage over it's close brother, Cyclotetrasiloxane (D4), (the other ingredient in commercial "Silk Base"), which does absorb into the skin and has been banned in parts of Europe due to fears stemming from health related issues of long-term exposure. Cyclopentasiloxane is considered a safe, hypoallergenic, inert product. As our beloved long term clientelle well know, product integrity and purity is of utmost priority for us. We only use the finest ingredients in our products; nothing less will do. When we discussed the idea of using Cyclopentasiloxane instead of alcohol, both of our Phero labs thought it was a brilliant idea. I soon learned the reason the labs hadn't considered using it before... Cyclopentasiloxane is more than FIVE TIMES the price of alcohol or DPG. But, in exchange for the benefits granted, we think it's worth the price. So, in summary, we are offering our Pheromone blends in leak-resistant, 10 ml glass roll-on bottles that do not degrade, dissolve or break down over time when exposed to the contents inside. They are post and plane safe, and travel well. You will use them exactly as you would your regular alcohol diluted pheromone products, alone or layered with your fragrances, but you may experience greater staying power or greater efficacy with this type of dilution method, as Cyclopentasiloxane stays on or near the skin without the complete evaporation or absorption as with alcohol. The pheros are exactly the same strength that you are accustomed to buying from the better Phero manufacturers. A 1/10 ratio of dilution. Now, about the pheromone blends... As we are perfumers, not scientists, we have chosen to leave the actual phero blending to the brainy guys at Stone Independent Research and commission them to create custom concentrations for us based upon ideas, uses and qualities that our customers have specifically asked for.
