Time Travel Potion

This potion is intended as a tool for meditation and relaxation, but not necessarily for sleep. The ingredients were chosen because they relax and ease the mind and body, but also encourage mental exploration and excite the imagination.

The best way to describe this potion/perfume, is to say that it creates somewhat of a "hazy" atmosphere. Its' scent of dusty dark resins, mosses and musk, and a hint of floral can provide a good point of focus for those attempting a state of self-hypnosis.

What follows is a guided meditation to allow your imagination to soar, and it entails "walking into" photographs. This is akin to Astral Travel, and is in fact an exercise to help enable one and train for the experience of Astral Travel during sleep.

Choose a photograph or painting that entrances you. It does not have to be a snapshot outside of your time, (I just happen to find time travel an irresistible allure), but choose any picture - it can be one from this page, it can be one from your own scrap book. What was it like to be there? Wander the streets of that town. Talk to the people pictured there. What do you ask? What do they say? Explore! Remember to have a journal at hand to record your experiences!

Imagine that you have found a key. It is unlike any other you have seen. It's beautifully intricate, lacy and delicate, and you can feel a light warming pulse going through the metal and into your hand. It is strung on a long gossamer-fine metal chain, like a necklace, so you slip it over your head, and can feel it gently thrumming with energy against your body.

But where is the lock to which it belongs? You begin to search your familiar surroundings for something that you know must be here, hidden from view until the moment you found this key, this magical invitation to another world.

Ah, there it is! A tiny wooden door, with intricate metalwork to match your key, and a little stained glass window with a bridge motif. As you fit key to lock, the proportions change. The door is now large enough for you to go through, or perhaps you are now small enough? When you open the door, what do you see?

Choose a photograph or painting to explore.

A new world awaits! You may go anywhere you wish, interact with people or creatures that you meet, or join the birds in the sky if it strikes your fancy. And when you want to come home, remember the key around your neck. All you need do is imagine the door, and it will appear...
