Danna says: Our Layerable Collection started with Sugared Roses in 2004. I wanted to do something with Roses that wasn't too old-lady-like, and I wanted something different, something sweet. I went through 4 versions of a "sweetened rose" type perfume until I stripped it back down to rose + sweet = sugar + rose. I used three types of sugars and 6 types of roses for the first three prototypes. I finally settled on one that I absolutely loved and when I went over the idea with Mara, she was ecstatic about it. We fine-tuned it a bit, added different sugars, complexed it out, settling on a blend of five different sugars and six types of roses.

The idea of sugar sweetened florals was such a fun prospect that we worked on several different flowers and fruits with the sugared base - adding other notes to complete and subtly flesh them out. We were set that we would release a collection of sugared, layerable scents in February 2006 that could be expanded upon as time progressed. But now - to name them.

We went through complex ideas, but the whole collection really had to be cohesive, and we decided that simpler would be better. We tossed out titles such as Iced, Candied, Sweetened, and Frosted Florals, and laughed for way too long over the idea of licensing Tony the Tiger for the labels.

It really took us two or three weeks, then we came back to the original and simplest name: Sugared Roses, and the Sugared Collection was born. It has been a huge hit; as it's sweet but not foody, and floral but not cloying. 

We have received accolades aplenty from other perfumers, soap makers and customers, complimenting us on this simple but novel idea. We've been thrilled as they've tossed their own ideas into our playground, helping us expand the line. 

The idea has also grown in another direction... some things just lend themselves better to being "musked" than "sugared", and so we've embarked on the layerable "Musky Dusky" line too!

One of the most fun things about this collection is that it leaves a great deal of creativity in the hands of the wearer. While all of these are "finished" scents that smell gorgeous alone, they are also designed to be worn in combination with each other, in whatever combo the wearer desires. The combinations are endless, and limited only by the imagination of the wearer!

Combine not only with each other, but also, to add some punch to other fragrances in your own personal scent library.

Sugared French Vanilla

Sugared Gingerbread
Nothing says Christmas and Yule like warm Gingerbread! We combined three classic gingerbread recipes to create this guilt-free holiday perfume. We added a sugared glaze and a bit of sweet cream. The end result is a warm and gooey layerable or stand alone tribute to a favorite holiday treat!

Sugared Pomegranate
Ah, poor Persephone. Tricked into spending half the year in the underworld by her husband Hades, who fed her six deliciously sweet pomegranate arils. During those 6 months, her mother Demeter cries and allows the crops to die and the world to become a mirror of her grief and desperation. Persephone returns on the Spring Equinox and Demeter again tends the Earth.

Sweetly sugared Pomegranates are our tribute to the love that is given to Persephone, on both sides of the veil. A sad story, but a delightful fragrance! Magickal properties: fidelity and fertility.

Sugared Bonfire
A traditional Halloween Bonfire ~ smokey woods and hot, sugary, toasting marshmallows!


Sugared Pumpkins

Take it from a devoted Tea addict, this perfume smells exactly like a perfect glass of Iced Tea - a combo of fragrant leaves of Black Tea, White Tea, Green Tea and Chamomile, with a tiny spritz of lemon, a subtle sweetening of white sugar and honey, and a cooling ice note. Sugared Forest
A beautifully balanced bevy of woody notes, including Vetiver, White Pine, Cedar, Sandalwood, Oak Moss, and petrified tree sap (aka Amber) softened by the sweetness of powdery sugar. An enchanting forest, indeed! Smells lovely on both women and men.

 
Sugared Honeycomb
Verrrrrry sexy! The scent of rich and thick late-summer honeycomb, mixed with our delicious blend of 5 sugars. Honey fans know that this particular type of honey smells very similar to the scent of "female musk". You must be daring to wear this scent, as it truly smells like "sex", and drives most men totally bonkers. Keep in mind, this is an earthy, down and dirty sexual smell. Mess up your hair, and wear a lingerie top or an oversized man's button down instead of a shirt. Look like you just got out of bed and can't wait to get back in...and the effect will be complete.
