All Hallow's Eve
When I was a kid growing up on the east coast, we moved from the city to an area of the suburbs only 17 miles from New York City, but there was still a few small farms there at that time, and a couple of horse ranches too. It was astonishing to me. I'd never seen these things before. We actually had fresh milk and eggs delivered to the house!
There was one local farm that was only open to the public at harvest time. They sold apples and corn by the bushel, pumpkins and apple cider. It became a family ritual to go there every autumn, and in my mind, this is still the epitome of Halloween to me. Into this fragrance, I put all the aromas I associate with that farm and all the autums of my youth. The scents of fresh mown hay and earth, pumpkin pie and apple cider, carmel apples and warm spices, and a little Halloween candy too. Makes a lovely, slightly spicy perfume, and I also recommend it for scenting your home as well. Dilute and try it in your oil burner!
What was your favorite Halloween costume? Mine was when I was 13, and I dressed up as a Witch. I was a phenom skater at the time, and put on me Mum's longest dress - a sexy grey thing that went way past my ankles. I skated around my street with a broom in hand, black hat and all, and appeared to all the screaming kiddies as if I were flying. Heheh. To think on it now, I'm surprised I didn't tangle that long dress in my wheels and break something vital!
